Given an unlimited budget, I would modify the kitchen in my home - I particularly like these kinds of patterns for my kitchen. I think the builders who fitted my kitchen had never actually tried to cook in a kitchen and therefore had no real understanding of what is required to make a kitchen functional. As it happens, I know a lot of builders and construction equipment companies (e.g. SCF Supplies Ltd) in my line of business, so I could get professionals to update my house. The kitchen units would need to be wider with at least two shelves in all of the top cupboards. This would allow dishes and utensils to be organised into more sensible piles to making cooking a meal more efficient. The cooker would then need to be relocated so that all the draws within the kitchen could open without any restrictions, due to space. The radiator would be removed, which would allow space for the fridge-freezer to be placed in the kitchen along with an additional plug socket. Finally, a larger sink unit would need to be added to make it easier to wash all the dishes, after preparing a meal. I find the colour and design of the kitchen are rather arbitrary, compared to whether a kitchen is functional for use or not. |

When you have your home appraised it might not be holding the value that you had hoped for but there are ways to increase the value of your home. You can do something inside and outside remodeling such as having structural decking put in place instead of just a standard deck, or perhaps warm roofing to help keep the property well insulated. You could have someone to come in and look at your home and find ways of investing minimal money to get the most out of increasing the value of your home. One way is to do some modernizing of maybe your kitchen and bathrooms but you still want to keep the old-fashioned ambience to your home. It is like having old meets new feeling within your home. You can upgrade the cabinets if you want to maybe put in some more modernized appliances, install some window blinds and maybe some fresh coats of paint. If you live in a part where the temperatures get really cold in the winter then you might want to place some room sized rugs just to keep the flooring warmer during the winter. |

The biggest cleanup job we ever had to was to restore an old house to living condition. It sat on a lot that went back about three generations. After the last family member lived in it, it sat empty for four years. The lot that was already overgrown with bamboo and kudzoo vines, then began to over grow even more. The problem is that in the southeast Texas region, vines can quickly grow rampant and over take everything in sight if they are left to their own devices therefore vines like wild grapes and wisteria also began to infiltrate the property. All of the vegetation began to overtake the house as well, causing it to begin to rot. Because of this, most of the living room floor, one whole wall of the living room, and half of the roof had to be replaced. Not to mention, the possessions on the inside of the house that had began to decompose and had been rifled through by trespassers all had to be thrown away. The job was so massive that a giant hole had to be dug in the middle of the yard just to burn away most of the things drug out of the house. I've worked in oil tank removal since then, but I'll never forget this cleanup. It was a task I hope to never have to undertake again. |

Home is where the heart is, right? Well, at least that's what I've been hearing. But, unfortunately, I haven't necessarily felt that way in a while, to say the least. I'm a victim of society, of the economy, of unemployment. Worst of all, I am a victim of boredom. And in the countless hours that I sit staring at the empty, bland walls in my new apartment, I think about all that I would do to this place if I was given the tools. I certainly have the time. I would start by painting my bedroom a pale shade of blue, something like seafoam - this colou would go well with my velcro fastened curtains. I have heard that the color blue causes the body to produce calming chemicals. Who knows if there is truth to that? Then I would finish with an exotic saltwater fish aquarium. The living room is next, with a splash of green to lighten the mood and promote relaxation. I would love to add a few plants to the not-yet-existent coffee table to inspire and cleanse the senses. The bathroom would receive a pale yellow makeover, because white is just too plain. Dandilions and daffodils would overwhelm the senses with a sweet musky odor, a small reminder that spring is on its way. You see, the things that matter to me aren't a big flat screen TV, or a three hundred dollar coffee maker, or a vacuum that does the job for me. Heck, I don't even HAVE a television at the moment. But it is these dreams that motivate us to achieve what we want, regardless of what that is. As for me? All I want is to be comfortable in my own home. |
